4/5a Concurrent chain schedule. ou learnedthat both magnitude of X and delay of X affect performance. But, would you rather have a large X that you'd have to wait for or a small reward you could have right away? This is the question. ( You can't have a large X right away .) Studied using concurrent CHAIN schedule: Chain or link 2 simple schedules together on each bar or key (each simple schedule is a link in the chain. .) and then give X at end of 2nd link , also called the terminal link . When complete last link, can begin another cycle ...i.e., start the two links (must choose first) again. Link 1 : FR 10: completing schedule on A or B turns on light for schedule on terminal link. First link called the choice link--once begins must finish on that choice through end of terminal link--once begin, can't switch. Can't tell wrong choice until reach discriminative stim (e.g., red or green key for bird) in link 2. Thus, completing schedule turns on cue (cue becomes a secondary reinforcer for responding on 1
