Review: Venn Diagrams We can use Venn Diagrams to show the validity or invalidity of an argument. Ex: Anyone who reads the Bible will find enlightenment. Some people who find enlightenment become rich. Thus, anyone who reads the Bible will become rich. (All B are E. Some E is R. Thus, all B are R.) Notice: The x is not placed in the intersection between “B” and “R.” The argument is, therefore, invalid.

Sampling The size of the sample is directly related to the strength of the inference “Other things being equal, a larger sample gives a stronger inference.” Percentages without any other numbers are, in actuality, not very useful in evaluating inferences.
