PSYCH class notes feb 7 16:16 Watched little alberts experiment Applications Conditioned emotional Response Little Albert Operant Conditioning Thorndike’s Law of Effect o Responses followed by pleasurable consequences are repeated Created a puzzle box and measured time that the cat took to get out of the  box and get to the food The behavior is the resonse and the open door or the food is the stimulus Skinner’s Contribution 1904-1990 The Skinner Box o Similar to the puzzle box o Tended to use rats o Mouse/rat in a box.  Box has a lever and when you press the lever than  food pellets come out o If you control the rate of reinforcement then you can train your animal What’s in it for me? o The organism will behave in a certain way if they get something out of it Shaping Like shaping a dog to sit.   Shape the animal through Successive approximations of the desired behavior
