Troubled Equine Imagine yourself twenty years from now. Can you see the life that you would have dreamed of way back when? You have that perfect vehicle full of beloved children all going on a nice road trip with their mom/dad, going to an FFA event in town, or are going to soccer practice. As your going down the road you began to watch the sides of the roads, and begin to feel sad. For what you see are loads of horses, and donkeys, walking around behind their fences all sickly and depressed looking. Then you finally look back at the road in front of you and see an abandoned horse ten feet in front of you. Ten feet that will not give you a chance to react. According to the 2008 Magazine article “Consequences of the Slaughter Ban” by Jennifer Forsberg Meyer, there are three results that come from the ban on horse slaughter. Horses being shipped to Mexico to go through inhumane horse slaughter, a surplus of horses and the unknown of how to deal with them and the abandonment and neglect that can result in scenes
