Patrick Bakley 1 Patrick Bakley A. Ballour MWF 9:00 am September 18, 2009 Fighting Sludge Oil Sludge in cars can be devastating. It can cause your car to be slow, and in extreme cases ruin your engine. However, there is a way to prevent oil sludge which is to change your oil regularly, and this can be done in three easy steps. Raise the car on a jack and drain the oil, remove the filter and replace it with a new filter, and lower the car and fill with new oil. All, of course, being done after you have acquired a jack, oil pan, wrench set, oil filter, oil filter wrench, funnel, and new oil. First, take the jack and lift the front of your car making sure that you lift it on something solid and not flimsy so you can get underneath safely. Then crawl under with the wrench set and the oil pan, and remove the oil plug nut from the oil tank and let it drain into the oil pan When the oil has finally finished draining completely out into the oil pan, take the oil plug nut and place it back into the oil
