Unformatted text preview: Using “Aspen Properties” To Compute Thermodynamic Properties Here is a general outline of steps to set up a properties table calculation. Headings indicate locations in the input menu tree. Note the input tree can be redisplayed via the Data main menu. 1. Setup: Input title, select units. Setup–Units-Sets: Modify units set as required. Create a new units set and then set the individual entries as needed. E.g, kPa, kJ / kmol, . . . . 2. Components–Specifications: On selection tab, enter either Component ID or Com- ponent name. Use Find search list if needed. Remember to verify you have identified components correctly – the name Aspen uses may not be the name you would use. 3. Properties–Specifications: Set Base method pull-down menu to desired property “package”. Selection of this requires detailed thought and investigation into what the cryptic method name actually selects.
