Henry 1 Ryan Henry Mrs. Fletcher English 1302 11 March 2009 Steroids in Professional Sports Steroids have been looked down on in the sports world for decades now. Most people see them as an unfair advantage and consider it cheating to take them. However, there are several reasons why steroids should be allowed in sports and not considered a substance that shames the game. A large percentage of professional athletes already use or have used steroids in their lifetime, whether they admit it or not. Some reasons why steroids should be allowed in pro sports are because they make the game more exciting, athletes are going to use them anyway, and it isn’t cheating if they are available for anyone to take. Steroid use makes any professional sporting event more exciting. After awhile, the same record-breaking homeruns and amount of touchdowns in a single season gets boring. Imagine if someone shattered these records year after year, breaking them by as many as ten or fifteen homeruns or touchdowns. This would give the fans something to get excited about year after year and keep them interested and wanting to come to all of the games. Instead of the commonly seen 2-1 score in baseball, scores could reach as high as twelve or thirteen runs for a single team per game.
