The majority of American parents want abstinence-only sex education for their children (false) Federal laws dictating abstinence-only sex education requires programs to teach that “sexual activity outside of marriage is wrong and harmful”, even though this is not medically (true) Every year, there are about 4million new teenage cases of STDs, especially in (chlamydia) infections The majority of teachers believe that information about birth control, condom use, and abortion issues should be taught by (end of the 12 th grade) Though a study had shown that almost all parents had talked to their teens about sexuality, only a small percentage felt that parents truly communicated adequately with their teens about sex (true) Though parents claimed to have talked with their kids about sexuality topics, a large percentage of the kids do not recall the conversation (true) A study showed that there’s no correlation to parent-teen communication about sex and condom usage by the teen (false) Abstinence-only sex education programs do not include any information about disease prevention method (true) Sex education programs that include information on contraception has been shown to encourage teens to begin having intercourse earlier than students who were given information of abstinence (false) A study found that young people who took a virginity pledge were less likely to use birth control when they did become sexually active (true) Who does SIECUS advocate to be the primary sexuality educators of children (parents) A study revealed that most parents do not speak to their children about the following topics (pornography, abortion, masturbation, prostitution) The main goal of a comprehensive sexuality education program is (provide accurate information about sexuality, provide opportunity for young people to develop their sexual values, to help young people develop relationship skills, to help young people exercise responsibility in sexual relationships including decisions about becoming sexually active and use of contraception) Most school administrators are more concerned with academic achievement than the personal welfare of students (true) Due to various political and personal views, offering comprehensive sexuality education in the schools has been relatively easy and has not had much opposition (false) Discussion of bisexuality and homosexuality happen freely in schools (false) Some people argue that because bisexuals, gays and lesbians comprise such a small percentage of the school population, their sexualities should not be discussed (true) Bisexuals, gays and lesbians are all sexual minorities; therefore, there are no misunderstandings or fights between these groups of people (false)
