CIVL242: Water and Wastewater Engineering Assignment A1 Solution A membrane bioreactor (MBR) treats a 1500 m3 /day wastewater flow containing high ammonia and organic concentrations. Its total oxygen demand is estimated to be 5,000 kg/day. There is two aeration parts: 1) Coarse bubble aeration for membrane cleaning with a fixed air flow of 5400 m3/day and SOTE of 3.5%; and 2) Fine bubble aeration for BOD oxidation and nitrification with the SOTE of 18%. Please determine the air supply rate for the fine bubble aeration. It is assumed that sewage factor =0.8 and the safety factor=1.2. factor safety factor sewage SOTE C at air O Kg hr day Kg
