Unformatted text preview: Objective data information detectable by nurse Nurse Practice Act regulates scope of practice Evaluation patients response to the procedure Implementation performance of skills Planning establishes goals Assessment collection, validation of data Responsible conscientious and honest in actions frontal plane also called a coronal plane, is made at right angles to the midline and divides the body into anterior and posterior parts Caudal toward the lower end of the spine Distal farther from the point of attachment or from a given reference point superficial (external) close to surface of the body dorsal recumbent position on back, with legs bent and separated, feet flat Trendelenburg position on back with head lowered by tilting bed back at 45 degree angle transverse plane passes horizontally dividing the body into superior and inferior parts Ulnar flexion a range of motion exercise during which there is a lateral bending of the wrist toward the fifth finger. plantar flexion flexion of the foot and toes toward the sole internal rotation rotation of a joint inward Immobility person's inability to move about freely active assisted range-of-motion performed by a client with some assistance Dangling sit on the side of a bed with legs dependent or feet on the floor Contractures abnormal condition of joint characterized by flexion and shortening of muscle fibers or loss of normal elasticity of skin Adduction movement of an extremity toward midline of the body isometric exercise tightening or tensing of muscles without moving body parts Flexion movement decreasing the angle between two adjoining bones; bending of a limb Mobility person's ability to move about freely active range-of-motion exercises the client is able to perform independently ROM *ROM stands for Range of Motion *They are exercises for major joints *Performing ROM in a SYSTEMATIC manner (neck to toes) is important. Order of the ROM activity done with each joint varies. Hyperextension movement of the body part beyond its normal resting extended body position Dorsiflexion flexion toward the back, as accomplished by a muscle(e.g. hand or foot) External Rotation Rotation of a joint outward Pronation movement of a body part so the front or ventral surface faces downward Dorsal pertaining to the back or posterior DVT deep vein thrombosis Thrombus Clot Rotation the movement of a bone around its central axis, such as a shoulder Inversion turning something inward Footboard used to maintain dorsiflexion of the feet radial flexion a range of motion exercise during which there is a bending of the wrist medially toward the thumb, maintains wrist mobility Supination movement of a body part so the front or ventral surface faces upward Opposition the relation between the thumb and the other digits of the hand for the purpose of grasping objects between the thumb and fingers Extension movement increasing the angle between two adjoining bones Eversion turning outward or inside out. i.e. turning the foot outward at the turning outward or inside out....
