Barbara Avila English 2327.01 September 22, 2009 Essay # 1 The Conflict In all people’s life there has to be a moment where they’re in doubt about their path. All individuals have to choose between right and wrong and between the more convenient decisions. In Anne Bradstreet’s poem, “The Flesh and the Spirit” she had a conflict between her material side and her spiritual side. She got pulled by her material world called “Flesh” but her faith, “Spirit” struggled to recuperate her. She had to solve her issue by realizing and comparing both lives, and had to come to a result to announce her companion. It was extremely difficult to stick to God and to be a good example always while everyone else is concentrated in pleasing themselves and getting pampered with the life’s delights. Being between the riches of the world and her idea of her after life made her stop and think for a moment. After struggling with flesh and spirit she had to come to a conclusion where she had to choose a side. God was Anne’s decision instead of the
