Learning Lab Department Meeting 9 January 2006, 10:00 am B1-28G Present : Lila Hudoba; Gail Chaskes; Judith Rossman; Michelle Myers; Judith Reitzes; Anne Francis; Paul Bonila; Joan Monroe; Jay Howard; Gary Mitchell; Olympia Mitchell; Mary Yannuzzi, Chair. The minutes of the 12 December 2006 meeting were approved without amendments. Future Department Meetings : Thursday, 22 February at 10:00 am, (to focus on teaching reading); Tuesday, 13 March at 2:00 pm; Friday, 27 April at 10:00 am; Thursday, 10 May at 10:00 am. Committee Reports : Tutor – no report Rules – no report Hiring –The Lab Part-time Hiring Committee consists of Mary Yannuzzi, Gail Chaskes, Judith Rossman, Paul Bonila, Anne Francis, and Joan Monroe. Reading Curriculum – 9 CAP B instructors have chosen the Reading Curriculum for their Lab classes. Science VL Hiring – a candidate for the VL Science position is being interviewed

Budget: See attached summary sheet Status of Lab Classes: Math Lab classes are down to 2; the total number of reading/writing Lab classes is up slightly from last spring. Act Now is undergoing changes and the students formerly in the program are referred to as RFP which is a meaningless abbreviation. Writing Center : Joan Monroe will coordinate Writing Center activities. An appointment system will be used, but drop-ins are still permitted. Other Lab faculty have volunteered to run workshops and tutor training. Learning Lab Audit : drafts of a student survey and an evaluation form, a completed faculty survey, and statements of Lab philosophy, mission, goals, and objectives were distributed and discussed.
