As I set out to begin my assignment to interview a teacher, I decided to take the advice of my instructor and start early enough to set up an appointment with someone. Mr. Howard suggested that I pursue either a person with the last name Fineman or Mitchell. Immediately, I ran into Mrs. Fineman, the Reading and Writing Coordinator and instructor in the learning lab. In the frazzled state that I had found her in, I believed that my interview had already begun. She was so busy she was rambling dates and events off to me; unfortunately, I had no idea what she was talking about. We managed to get in an appointment that was most inconvenient for me, but she fit me in. My first understanding of what was involved with tutoring was the fact that a person may be just a little busier than before. From talking with Merle, one of the things I noticed besides how busy she was is how she spoke about what she does; she holds a very strong love for it. She must, she’s been teaching and tutoring for forty plus years.
