Political Unit Key Terms and Concepts Political Globalization- the increasing number and power of human associations which influence or govern the world as a whole Political Local Diversity- State- an area organized into a political unit and ruled by an established government, but which has no control over its foreign affairs. Sovereignty means a state has complete control over all of its affairs. Sovereignty-a state has complete control over all of its affairs. Territoriality- Establishing land as your own and finding pride within that land or country. Territorial Integrity- Principle that one country should not promote border changes within another country. Peace of Westphalia- Treaties signed after the 30 year war. Microstates- a sovereign state having a very small population or very small land area Nation- A group of people with a shared history and similar beliefs Nation-state- A nation^, that has an actual state with boundaries. Multinational state- A country with many diverse nationalities
