LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES I feel like the three most important law enforcement agencies include the Sheriff’s Department, the State Police, and the Department of Homeland Security. The Sheriff’s agencies are responsible for search and rescue, jail operations, and involved in county court processes. They assume the same duties as the local and county officers, but have no boundaries other than the state line.
