ITL LAB 2 - PAGE 3 SPRING 2001 Prefab 2 1. Network Commands in Unix: Go to the online manual pages at http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi , and select the OS version "Red Hat Linux/i386 6.2". Read the manual pages of the following commands. arp ifconfig netstat 1.1. Write the syntax for an ifconfig command that sets the hardware address of the IP interface eth1 to 128.143.2.3 and the netmask to 255.255.0.0. 2. Tcpdump: At http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi , select "Red Hat Linux/i386 6.2" and read the manual pages for tcpdump. Use the manual pages to answer the following questions. 2.1. What is the syntax of a tcpdump command, which collects all ICMP packets with destination IP address 10.0.1.50? 2.2. Assume we are interested in capturing all telnet packets destined to IP address 10.0.5.2 on port 23 (telnet port). Is the following command correct? tcpdump host 10.0.5.2 and dst port 23
