Chapter 1, problem #2 Housing Demand By N. S. 2 Go to www.bls.gov and check out the resent data on total employment and construction employment. Have they gone up or down from their levels in August 2007? What has happened to the unemployment rate? Each month the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program surveys about 150,000 businesses and government agencies, representing approximately 390,000 individual worksites, in order to provide detailed industry data on employment, hours, and earnings of workers on nonfarm payrolls (United States Department of Labor, 2009). After going to the website I found the data on total household employment. In August 2007 the employment rate was at 145.794 million people and now in August 2009 it is at 139.649 million people, it has decline by (-6.145 million people). The Nonfarm payroll employment shows that in August 2007 the employment was preliminary at 138.037 million people and now in August 2009 it is preliminary at 131.223 million people, it has decline by about (-6.814 million people).
