Investment in Education by N.S. 2 Investment in Education Many economists call education “an investment in human capital.” I will first define Capital. I will discuss in how education is considered capital. Investments are usually undertaken so that one can have a rate of return. I will describe how a college education has a return in the investment and how that is measured. I will also discuss how to determine if it is a good decision to invent in one’s education and if it is a good enough to invest in. Capital There are many definitions for the word capital here are a few; assets available for use in the production of further assets. It is known as wealth in the form of money or property owned by a person or business and human resources of economic value. It can also be, a large alphabetic characters, known as upper case letters. It is used as in association, some example are; "the crime capital of Italy"; "the drug capital of Columbia". The federal government of the United States is known as the capital. It can also mean first-rate; "a capital fellow"; "a capital idea". Or a means of primary importance; "our capital concern was to avoid defeat" (define: capital on Google, 2009). These are some well known meanings of the word capital. However in economics, the definition of capital is the factors of production used to create
