We will be comparing and contrasting 5 different networks, the two main ones our LANs and WANs. First off LANs is a data communicating system which uses a few different devices or computer devices that work together like computers, printers, etc. They are used with plug in cables, wireless media, and infrared links. You see any building or many buildings that have a network our considered LANs. The LANs can be used to share information or links from computer to computer in a building, and then they would need to use one LAN. But, if they do not need to share the same information they can have two different LANs. An example of a LAN is at an office building for a bank where they have all the same information on them so that they can look up their info for the business through that computer. A WAN stands for wide area network and it is two or more LANs connected together over a very big geographical area. But, a WAN does not need a LAN all the time.
