The objective of this course is to develop an understanding of the decisions facing financial managers based on corporate finance theory. The course combines lectures and corporate finance cases with articles from practitioner-oriented academic journals. The lectures and case analyses will develop a practical application of many of the corporate finance topics introduced in the core finance courses. The course will focus on topics such as the cost of capital, valuation, capital budgeting, capital structure and payout policy, mergers and acquisitions, risk management, and real options. The course covers a number of general themes in corporate finance, including managerial objectives, managerial incentives, agency issues, corporate governance and value creation.
