See-Sawing Candle Time Estimate: 5 minutes Materials: 10-inch (25 cm) candle ruler paring knife needle aluminum foil 2 - 600 mL beakers matches Advance Preparation: Carve away the wax at the bottom of the candle so that the wick is exposed.  Measure the candle, find the center, and carefully stick the needle through the  candle.  Rest each end of the needle on the rim of a 600 mL beaker.  The candle  should be balanced.  If not, trim the wax on the end that is too heavy until it is  balanced.  The candle should rock back and forth (see-saw) easily.  Lay  aluminum foil on the table below the candle to catch the dripping wax.   Procedure: Light both ends of the candle and  gently  push the candle so that it teeters.
