LAB 4 RLC SERIES STEP RESPONSE RLC SERIES AND PARALLEL RESONANCE 1. OBJECTIVES s Understand the basic principles that govern the step response of a series RLC circuit. s Understand the variables that affect the resonance of series and parallel RLC circuits. 2. LIST OF COMPONENTS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED List of Components s Resistors: 200 Ω (red black brown) , 1 k Ω ( brown black red) , 100 Ω (brown black brown), 100 k Ω (brown black yellow) s Capacitors: 10 nF, 100 nF s Inductors: 1 mH s Hookup wire AWG # 22. Equipment required s Function generator s Oscilloscope s Digital Multimeter s Breadboard 4. HANDS ON. 4.1 SERIES RLC STEP RESPONSE Remember to set your Function Generator to “High Z” (you can find it under Utility>Output Setup) .. Build the circuit shown below in figure 1. Use a 5 VPP square wave with 2.5 volts offset signal f=100Hz . First you will use the 200Ω then you will replace it with the 1k Ω
