Cooper 1 I think that this summary was a good assignment to start the year because it was simple and allowed students the opportunity to refresh their writing abilities rather than just jumping into a huge research paper. Also, an assignment like this lets the teacher get a basic understanding of each student as a writer while simultaneously letting the students see what the teacher will expect to see from the students. On this first assignment, I think that I did a good job. I feel that I stayed true to the topic of the article while keeping my opinions out of the summary. Also, with the word limit on the assignment, I think I was able to touch on every key point from the original, which was a little tough to do. Nevertheless, you have to follow the guidelines for the assignment, or else every single assignment would be rather easy. While writing this summary, I found it a difficult to integrate some of the key points of the article without directly quoting it because it was already a summary itself. However, by using

Unformatted text preview: some of the writing tools at my disposal, (i.e. a thesaurus) I was able to change the sentences into my own wording to avoid plagiarizing the original article. Also, I was struggling to come up with a title for my summary so much that I had it named Assignment #2 when I showed up with my first draft. By talking with some of my classmates and other people that had read the article, I was able to come up with a title that was much more focused on the topic. For my future papers, I want to be able to earn the highest possible grade I can while being able to sit back and say, Im proud of that paper and its the best that I can do. Also, I hope to make the most out of the opportunities, such as revisions, to earn the best score I can. There is no reason that I couldnt do well in this class, as long as I keep up with the assignments, work hard, and utilize the options I have to improve as a writer....
