Explorations Of Our Digital Future Spring 2007 Team Milestone 2, Part 1 of 2 Written by Jeremy Garrett, Edited by Tom Walker, Copyrighted Feb, 2006 – Feb 2007 Section 1 – Team Unification: (Expected time = less than ½ hour) 30 Points, 10 points each 1. As part of the Milestone 1 report, many of the teams have already given themselves clever “nicknames” – as a way to promote a sense of unity and team spirit. If your team has not already done so, take this time to choose a name for your team – this will also prevent your instructor from being forced to refer to everyone as “group #1” and so on. 2. As described in the lecture presentations, develop a “mission statement” for your group. It should be one “sentence” that gives a quick idea of your goal. It should be fairly short and kind of “catchy” – like an objective statement on a resume. Example 1: “Develop a cell phone with a ‘flip’ cover.” Example 2: “Develop a combination flip phone / solid state MP3 player.” 3. Decide on a tentative name for your product. Section 2 (External Search): (Expected time = ½ to 1½ hours) Conduct the first round external search. This should include Internet or magazines or other appropriate materials (with references). Include more than one paragraph and at least two pictures (with references) that explain what vaguely similar things are on the market and how they are different from your product – depending on your project you will probably have to
