MCDB 40 Dr. Christiane Meyer Winter 2010 Overview of Material for Lectures 1-4 Lecture 1 – Introduction to the Course and HIV/AIDS Lecture 2 – Bacterial STDs Lecture 3 – Viral STDs Lecture 4 – Introduction to Viruses and HIV Clinic 2: You should be generally familiar with Hillel Wasserman’s personal story. With regard to your book ‘100 Q & A’: I expect you to have read the chapters (which reinforce many things we discussed in lecture). You do not need to memorize every detail but you should get the gist and pay close attention to the bolded terms. I expect you to know the material at the level discussed in lecture . This is why I take my time in lecture and give you plenty of opportunity to ask for clarifications. You should use both the lecture slides and your notes to find the answers to the questions/prompts below. You need your notes especially when I created definitions, explanations, tables etc. on the blackboard. Also remember that you can refer to the audio recordings on www.bruincast.ucla.edu to review the lectures. Your notes should clearly indicate
