Lean is looking at what is the minimum of time resources, money, steps, that it takes to execute a process. a. Lean is about taking about every piece of waste that it can out. 6. You want raw materials to be as close to the point of conversion as possible. 7. P. 263 four stages of lean 8. Pg. 264: table 8.2 elements a. Waste Reduction: You are going to look at every possible avenue to reduce waste. When you think lean, think waste reduction. b. Lean Supply Chain Relationships: c. Lean layouts: You want conversion process to flow. You don’t want a lot of space between intervals. d. Inventory and Setup Time reduction: Make inventory in small batches, will make you less able to respond to things. If you order small batches it may also cost you more.
