A. A Marketing plan requires B. Market: Consumers with common traits, commonalities to make a trade. a. This is important whether we are in mass market(encompasses the vast majority of potential consumers of people). This is something that almost everbbyody can take advantage of i. Eg. Coke, google, mcdonalds b. Market segment or target market: Ice Cream c. Automobiles: Cars solve transportation(mass market) i. Cars are a segmented market because there different types of cars. ii. Car Manufacturers d. The world is changing and is becoming a global marketplace. i. How many cars manufacturers are from US companies? 1. Cars are from all over the world-Worldwide Market 2. General Motors was trying to be every kind of car for everybody e. Why do some organization sell larger segments and hold on to the smaller segments? i. General motors kept Buick because we are now a World Market. Buick has an excellent reputation in the Chinese market although relatively new. You have to make decisions based on the Global Market. C. In the 1800’s there was a large demand for goods. Most people worked as farmers.
