Amanda Randolph Section 004 Reflection #2 The world we live in is rapidly growing and changing as each day passes us by. Things like advances in technology and changes in the social, economic and political systems play a large part in the process of globalization. When you ask someone what globalization is the immediate answer is the spread of technology and everyone adapting the same idea, at least that’s what all my friends believed. Globalization is more than that, it is more complicated and has competing views showed in the two writings we read. Friedman in the excerpt from “The World Is Flat,” describes globalization in three eras beginning when Columbus discovered America in 1492. Gutek in the excerpt from his book described it as a “shrinking” of the world. These two authors hold ideas that compete but also intermix to form what we may begin to see as one of the most impacting and complicating “issues.” According to Friedman we are now in a “tiny world” where “it is now possible for more
