Samuel Dzifanu Lab 205: Parallel Plate Capacitor Lab 205: Parallel Plate Capacitor Name : Samuel Dzifanu Lab Partners: Arianit Agushi Crystal Ramjattan Objective: This laboratory objective is to investigate and understand the physical and electrical characteristics of a capacitor. We will determine this by measuring the voltage from the capacitor as the distance between two dielectric plates increase. This lab will also identify the relationship between capacitor and voltage under parallel and series connection as well as measuring the value of the capacitance. Theory: A capacitor is an energy storage device. It is made up of two conductors separated by an insulator such as dielectric plates. The charge is deposited on one of two parallel plates and will remain there. When there is potential different across the conductors, it will establishes an electric field. Then, the electric field can produces a mechanical force which, as an energy source, can do work on other electric charges. The term capacitance is the ability of a capacitor
