Amerigo Vespucci influenced the first world map including the Americas, which they were named after him. Geographia by Ptolemy (ancient Greek) gave a map of world in his book. Arawaks and Caribs were inhabiting the Antilles when Columbus arrived. o Caribs were the more aggressive of the two and would attack the Arawaks. o Arawaks had a political system which contained chieftains. o Caribs were a fishing people. Genocide occurred to all indigenous people between 1500-1700, most were killed or enslaved. Europeans brought more settlers and slaves from Africa (brought from West Africa) to the Antilles to replace the indigenous people....
