Unformatted text preview: October 14, 2009 Connor Billing Leadership Reflection Leadership is a term that is loosely used and thrown around, with each person having their own opinion of what leadership means. To me leadership is more about the influence one has on others. Anyone can strive to be a leader, but they only have leadership skills if they are able to get others to follow them. Dictionary.com defines leadership as, “the ability to lead” or the “the position or function of a leader” but both these definitions are very vague considering that both use the word lead in their definition. In my opinion, leadership is the respect one demands from others and his or her ability to influence the actions of his or her peers. Last year I read a book called “John Maxwell’s 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” and it really influenced what I viewed as successful leadership, not just leadership.
