Connor Billing April 27, 2010 HON 182 Outdoor Leadership Reflection To be honest, I had no idea what to expect when walking into the Outdoor Pursuit Center for my first HON 182 class. I always knew I loved the outdoors, but this class made me really realize how much we need to respect the outdoors. Not only did I learn interesting facts about camping and treating nature, but also leadership skills that I did not know would be so important when camping. In the first couple classes it obviously wasn’t the most exciting material, but it was information that we needed to know prior to our honors camping trip, and possible other future forays into the woods. As the time to depart for our trip drew closer and closer I really became excited to put into practice all the information we had been learning for the past couple weeks. I would say that my feelings really changed and evolved over the course of the class, I really liked the teaching and leadership styles of the 282 students, and for the most part liked the activities on the trip. I had mixed feeling when signing up for this class during registration but liked the classes once they started, but to be honest was not so excited to go on the trip.
