Cameron Hartman 5395 Carmody Road Coloma, Michigan 49038 December 11, 2008 Coloma High School 300 W Saint Joseph St Coloma, MI Dear Coloma High School Board of Education: As a former student of Coloma High School, and a current student of Ferris State University, I have found that my teachings in high school have not adequately prepared me for my college career. There are things that I know now, that could have better prepared me for college. There are also practices that I have learned for High School, that made me do worse in college, that need to be stopped, for the sake of future students, and the future generation. As you probably know, the main goal of teachers now is to keep students self-esteem at a high level, or at least it seems that way. It’s no longer “politically correct” to tell a child that they have failed, and that it is their fault they have failed. This distills a “false ego” into the students mind. Self-esteem is no longer a problem, because it seems like every student
