Five Minutes to Teach Study Skills in Class Time Management: Planned vs. Actual Objective: collect data on time usage Procedure: copy and distribute time planner on next page.  Ask students to first fill in the column marked “planned”  according to how they intend to use the time to complete academic and personal responsibilities.  Then, remind the  students that they are to also record how they actually spend their time.  By comparing the planned and actual  allotment of time, the students should be able to objectively determine how their time is spent, rather than feel  guilty or uncertain about time management.
