Vaccination of Small Pox I found the text mostly an average read and pretty easy to comprehend. I feel that my ex- perience with the reading was average. This is because unlike most literature texts from that time period I feel as though Jenner spoke plainly and clearly. He easily explained the point he was try- ing to make regarding smallpox. What allowed me to understand the text were the many ex- amples that Jenner included in his reading. Examples such as in his presentation of his cases. With each case the repetition of evidence allowed me to get a better sense of what the small pox actually was and how it affected the vast amount of people in all age and class groups. One pas- sage that was very easy to understand was when Jenner was explaining the progression of the cow pox, after footnote two, “Thus the disease makes its progress from the horse to the nipple of the cow, and from the cow to the human subject.” There were a few points that made the reading somewhat difficult to stand.
