Section: E 2 T.A – Leighanne Gallington Abstract : An unknown hydrate was given to every group, where after, each groups task was to heat the hydrate three times on a Bunsen Burner and after each time weigh the crucible containing the heated hydrate in the weigh room to measure percentage of water contained in the hydrate. The duration for which the crucible was heated all the three times was 15 minutes. The final results show that 44% of water was lost from the initial hydrate, which suggested that the unknown hydrate was ZnSO 4 .7H 2 O. Introduction: The objective of this experiment is to find an unknown hydrate and evaluate its potential water storage capacity in outer space. A
