Political corruption is a major issue facing Canadian politics nowadays , its defined as the behaviour by public officials , appointed or elected , which violates legal or social norms regarding what is or is not legitimate private gain at public expense. Hence , political corruption could exist in various forms , some are universally condemned while others are held corrupt , where members of the public or political decision makers may disagree as to the ethicality of the behaviour . the three measures i would introduce to reduce corruption in the Canadian political system if i were a prime minister are accountability through transparency , raising public awareness and have more citizen input on patronage appointments . Accountability through transparency Accountability through transparency means an ease for Canadian citizens to access information about the actions of the Canadian government . The existence of access of information act and conflict of interest act is just a small step into a more transparent government . But the problem lies in the amount of red tape that prevents citizens from gaining valuable information when trying to uncover corruption through the access of information act .
