CheckPoint: Analysis of Electronic Payment Systems Many of us have become accustomed to electronic payment systems. These systems will continue to increase as businesses and banks present more opportunities to use them. Answer the following questions in 200 to 300 words: Name and describe various categories of e-commerce. “The three major types of e-commerce are business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce, business-to business (B2B) e-commerce, and consumer-to-consumer (C2C) e-commerce. Business-to- consumer e-commerce involves retailing products and services to individual shoppers” (Laudon and Laudon, 2009). An example of business-to-consumer is Officemax.com which sells office supplies, technology, and office furniture to individual consumers. Business-to-business e- commerce would be where a manufacturer selling goods to a distributor such as in a department store like Wal-Mart or Target . “ChemConnect’s Web site for buying and selling natural gas liquids, refined and intermediate fuels, chemicals, and plastics is an example of B2B e- commerce. Consumer-to-consumer (C2C) electronic commerce involves consumers selling directly to consumers. For example, eBay, the giant Web auction site, enables people to sell their goods to other consumers by auctioning the merchandise off to the highest bidder” (Laudon and Laudon, 2009).
