Meredith Thomas Workplace Inequalities After the tremendous obstacles that women have overcome throughout the years, one of the inequalities that women face but is slowly decreasing, is the prejudices found in the workplace. In recent years, women have been leaving the homes and entering the workplace at very large numbers after the tremendous legal accomplishments that women have made. Although some of these women are still facing gender discrimination, evidence shows that middle and upper class women are prospering. The most important legislative gain for women in the workplace occurred in 1963. This act, the Equal Pay Act of 1963, made it illegal to pay two people that performed equal work to receive a different salary. This law protected women from continuing to face discrimination when it came to pay amount. However, women still were not getting hired over men until a year later.
