Signed: Cristina Ponte 9/17/10 Assignment for 9/ 17 Reflection on “How should we live?” B. 1. In what ways did the various accounts agree in their answers? Between Socrates, Confucius, Buddha, and The Lakota Way there were many similarities. All agreed upon the basic concept of believing you do not know everything and that there is always room to learn. This may not have come out as obviously in The Lakota Way but I venture to say that they would agree with this statement. All pushed for a humble life, but one with self-exploration to better yourself. Through different means the virtues were instilled, Socrates through his questioning, Confucius taught, Buddha had followers who sought after him for his teaching, and the Lakota spread their message through their stories told over an over. All agreed in the examined life as the good life. 2. In what ways did they disagree? I do not think that they disagreed very much, rather just had different methods and
