FOUNDER•Is a faith founded more than 2,500 years ago in India.•The founders name is Siddhartha Gautama, also known as Buddha.•Siddhartha was born as a royal prince in a place called Lumbini also known as modern day Nepal. •He decided to give up his royal lifestyle at the age of 29 and begin his journey to find enlightenment. Which it is believed that he found it while meditating under a bodhi tree in Bodhi Gaya, India.•He then began teaching others how to gain enlightenment. •After his death in 483 B.C. His followers used his teaching as a foundation to Buddhism.
GEOGRAPHY•Buddhism is mainly practiced in East and Southeast Asia.•Over time it has been growing towards the west.•The type of Buddhism and where they are more Predominate•Theravada•Thailand, Sir Lanka, Cambodia, Laos and Burma•Mahayana•China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore and Vietnam•Tibetan•Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia, Bhutan, and parts of Russia and Northern India•Each is somewhat different outlooks of Buddha’s teachings.
