KHANH TRAN Annette Bever Speech 1315 Mar 30, 2011 TV Violence and Children Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to agree that they have to be more critical of the shows they let children watch. Central Idea: TV violence can have strong life-long negative effects the children if adult do not do their part in censorship and child guidance. Introduction I. What do you see the most violence on television? Guns, shootings, murders, hitting, punching, slapping, screaming, kicking, stabbing, explosions, car chases, car smashes, disasters and death are shown daily throughout TV programming. Whatever it is, the chances are, that image is imprinted in your memory. II. We must balance young people. We know those images on TV won’t us harm. Or can’t they? III. Violence on TV can have strong life-long negative effects the children if adult do not do their part in censorship and child guidance. IV. Today I would like to show to you that violence is wide-spread on television and that these negative effects on children as they grow up if adult do not take responsibility. (Transition: Let’s begin by talking about the violence is wide-spread on television.) Body I. Violence is not only in the adult film, it is even shown in cartoons that we consider wholesome.
