MIE360 Computer Modeling and Simulation Lecture Notes Daniel Frances © 2010 1 Lecture 6 – Crunching the Simulation Numbers This time we will actually simulate the system using the flow charts previously developed. But to save time we will start with the Clock with the arrival of the 10 th customer at 45 min. 1. INIT First we should setup a table to represent contents of the counters and state as the simulation progresses. The Event row is to help clarify the table. Event Clock 45 D t 0 Z 0 Y 23 N 9 n 0 The initial values are a result of the INIT step We also need to keep an event list, initialized to an arrival at some random time. Therefore the next event is an arrival in min 45. Type Time A 45 To save time and space, and simplify the manual simulation, we use the Arrival and Departure times from the table in the previous notes. We process TIME and Events together Past events are not removed from the Event List. 2.
