Catalog Description: Federal Taxation #1 is a 3-credit course. Prerequisites: C or better in ACCT 202 ( and junior standing for non -accounting majors). Course Description: Federal Taxation #1 introduces students to the fundamental concepts of federal taxation, with special emphasis on individual federal income taxation. The course creates awareness, recognition, and application of tax concepts involved in financial decision- making. Course delivery includes special emphasis on use of professional tax software and internet resources. ACCT 421/521 (formerly known as ACCT 321) is a first course in federal taxation. Course Objectives & Course Outcomes: ACCT 421 is a first course in federal taxation: Upon successfully taking and completing this course: (1) Students shall acquire knowledge and comprehension of fundamental concepts of federal taxation, with special emphasis on individuals. (2) Students shall apply the learned concepts to fact situations likely to be encountered in tax practice. (3) Students shall examine and analyze those fact situations likely to be encountered in tax practice. (4) Students shall synthesize and evaluate tax knowledge in order to create awareness,
