The major glands: Hypothalamus, pituitary gland, parathyroid glands, adrenal gland, ovaries, pineal gland, thyroid gland, thymus gland, pancreas, testes. 2. It affects health and diseases because the glands excrete hormones. 3. When the hypersecretion of GH occurs before puberty, the result is gigantism, proportional of all body tissue. Sexual and mental developments are retarded. 4. Hypopituitarism is a condition caused by a deficiency of absent of any of the pituitary hormones. The age of patients is one of the factors determining the course of treatment. 5. Diabetes insipidus is caused by the posterior pituitary gland releases reduced amounts of vasopressin. 6. Simple goiter results from a shortage of iodine in the diet. 7. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is a chronic disease of the immune system that attacks the thyroid gland. 8. Grave’s disease-signs and symptoms: rapid heartbeat, palpitations, nervousness, excitability, insomnia, excessive appetite and food consumption, weight loss, muscular weakness, onycholysis, hyperactive behavior, tremor, hair loss, and exophthalmos. 9.
