MyChapter2Part1.ppt 1 Chapter 2: XHTML Basics:  This slide file contains the author’s original  slides coupled with many of my own slides  and examples. All sample codes demonstrated in this slide file are available in the: TextbooksStudentDataFiles5eFromAhmed.zip and AhmedsExamplesCh2 in AhmedsSample.zip These files have been posted on the Blackboard Lecture Materials. You will need to download these files in your disk first. Then you will need to unzip the file that is in your disk and not on Blackboard. You cannot unzip a file directly on the Blackboard.

MyChapter2Part1.ppt 3 Before you start developing codes, you should know that a variety of sample codes will be made available to you. Basically there should be two types of sample codes: First, there will be a zip file that will contain all source codes for the examples demonstrated in the textbook. This file will be named TextbooksStudentFiles5eFromAhmed.zip. Please note that for Chapter 2 of the textbook’s samples, I have added the matching XHTML1.1 equivalent codes for all examples. Second, there will be additional zip files with my own examples. These zip files will be named something like AhmedsSamples.zip , In the next several slides we will elaborate on these resources.

MyChapter2Part1.ppt 4 All sample codes discussed in the textbook are available in the TextbooksStudentFiles5eFromAhmed.zip file posted on the Blackboard. Be sure to remember that you cannot unzip a zip file directly on the Blackboard. You must first download it to your disk and then unzip the file that exists in your disk and not the file that is on the Blackboard. If you have not done it yet, download the TextbooksStudentFiles5eFromAhmed.zip file from the Blackboard and save it in your disk. Then unzip the zip file. To make it somewhat easy for you to develop XHTML1.1 pages, I have converted all code samples of Chapter 2 of the textbook to equivalent XHTML1.1 codes. I have also named the files differently so that you can find the matching source code easily when you are reading the textbook. See next slide. About the sample codes discussed in the textbook

5 For Chapter2, I have converted all textbook’s XHTML1.0 codes to XHTML1.1 compliant codes. I have named each of the files prefixed with the appropriate page numbers and my last name. hello.htm:
