THE FIRST VOYAGE AROUND THE WORLD BY MAGELLAN The book entitled "The First Voyage Around the World by Magellan" was based on the manuscript, dating from around 1525, held by the Italian chronicler named Antonio Pigafetta who accompanied Ferdinand Magellan on the expedition. Pigafetta wrote four manuscripts: three of it were written in French and the other one was in his Italian dialect of Veneto mixed with some Spanish words. Since Magellan died in the Battle of Mactan in the Philippines, Pigafetta was one of the eyewitness and survivor who returned to their homeland and wrote "Relazione del Primo Vaggio Iltorno al Mondo" (Report on the First Voyage Around the World). The book was originally published in the year 1550 and in this initial version, some of the first-hand accounts of documents comprise with maps, discoveries and even new geographical names were included. “The First Voyage Around the World by Magellan” was all about the detailed record of the First Circumnavigation happened in history. The goal of this expedition was to traverse around the globe and to find the Spice Islands to trade some resources. The said movement was led by the Portuguese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan , considered to be the first European to cross the Pacific Ocean. It was under the monarch of King Charles I when the first voyage started. In his travel, several discoveries were made including the early life of the Filipinos (cultures and civilizations). He and his 240 multi-ethnic sailors which include Germans, Flemings, French, Greeks, Indians, British, Italians, Moors, Africans, Portuguese, Brazilian, Indonesians, and Castellanos were accomplished the task of roaming around the world although only few men made it through the end. Their great leader has dual citizenship; he was originally a Portuguese and also, he became a Spanish, since King Charles I (Spanish monarch) agreed to his mission to travel in order to find the Spice Islands (which is known now as Indonesia). Before the first voyage happened, Magellan (Portuguese name: Fernao de Magalhães) already experienced different battles since he was under the royal court for the queen of Portugal. His father was known often to travel to the town of Oporto where the place was always crowded with ships and seafarers who went to adventures, that time
