Muscular Strength and Endurance Worksheet Directions: Break into 5 groups answer the following questions completely and be prepared to discuss  findings with class.  Group 1 1. What is Muscular Strength?  T he amount of force a muscle can produce with a single maximum effort. 2. What is Muscular Endurance?  The ability to resist fatigue while holding or repeating a muscular  contraction. *The ability to exert a submaximal force repeatedly over time. 3. What are Slow Twitch Fibers?  Relatively fatigue resistant. They do not contract as rapidly or  strongly as fast twitch fibers. Energy source that fuels slow twitch fibers is aerobic (oxidative).  Slow twitch muscle fibers are typically reddish in color 4. What are Fast Twitch Fibers?  Contract more rapidly and forcefully than slow twitch fibers but  fatigue more quickly. Oxygen is important in the energy system that fuels fast twitch fibers, they  rely more on anaerobic (non oxidative) metabolism. Typically whitish in color. Group 2 – Page 440 1. Strength Training FITT principle a. Frequency –  ACSM at least 2 days a week with one day rest in between or train more  frequently if desired and do a split routine. 8 – 10 exercises for a full body workout
