CHRISTIANITY IN SOUTH KOREA 2 Christianity in South Korea Christianity was introduced in Korea following the initiation of Lee Seung-hoon while he was in China. Upon his return to Korea, he began baptizing and converting other Koreans. Eventually, priests settled in Korea, beginning from China and later from France. However, the prolonged stay of local lay-workers, which was contradictory to foreign priests, implied that Christianity was established as a middle-class movement and consequentially spread more quickly than if it had been popularized by immigrants. The nature of Christianity in Korea revolves around two of its major branches of Catholicism and Protestantism, which account for 5.3 million and 8.6 million individuals, respectively. Moreover, Korean history involves Confucianism, Shamanism, and Buddhism. The ancient Shamanist Koreans had an originally monotheistic concept of a supreme Creator, God.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
