Surname 1 Student’s Name Instructor’s Name Course Title Date Women in Movies Fried Green Tomatoes Fried Green Tomatoes is a comedy-drama film directed by Jon Avnet and stars various actors (“Fried Green Tomatoes” ). In a series of flashback, the film follows racism, male privilege, and gender bias. However, eventually, the female characters rebel against the circumstances. An example is the main character, Idgie, who struggles to resists feminism, and her experiences inspire other female characters to become the same. She rebels the issues of privilege and power structure, which address discrimination against women. Idgie is a squawky, fierce, tomboy of a lady in a society dominated by exquisite females. Her childhood experiences transform her into a different character. She is an independent individual who does not conform to people’s expectations. Her first encounter was when she witnessed his brother being involved in a train accident (“Fried Green Tomatoes” ). The incident was dreadful that it altered her aspirations towards life. Eventually, Idgie withdraws from her family and allies and decides to begin a new life. She dares various activities in such for livelihood such as fishing and acquiring honey from a beehive. The encounters indicate how a brave and strong character she was. She neither complies with authority nor avoids challenges.
